Pancha Tanmantra

Traditional Healing Martial Arts

Pancha Tanmantra is the traditional healing martial art of the Vajrayana Buddhist lineage of Indonesia. It was introduced to Australia in 1983 by the late holder of the lineage and Grandmaster of the school, H.E. Prince Ratu Pandji Sakti of Bali. Translating roughly as 'The Five Subtle Seeds of life', Pancha Tanmantra is based on the Five Element system of Traditional Oriental Medicine (Fire, Water, Metal, Wood and Earth). These five elements relate directly to the functioning of the physical body, its organs and energy pathways, the five senses, thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Grandmaster Ratu received the training of a Buddhist Lama by

his Masters in Indonesia where he also studied Martial Arts

and Traditional Oriental Medicine. He often referred to

Pancha Tanmantra as the backbone of his spiritual training.

Grandmaster Ratu was unique in his ability to rekindle the ancient

spiritual and healing focus of martial arts which is often lost in the

more combative style of martial arts taught in the West today.

The practice of Pancha Tanmantra helps students to strengthen and

balance their physical body, organs, meridians and emotions.

Practicing the movements can also help students to develop a better

understanding of the relationship between internal and external

elements and aid in the prevention and healing of physical disease.

As the Grandmaster Ratu said, “This Martial Art is about facing the

enemies that reside within our own mind. It helps us to develop

the courage and self-discipline to negotiate this life with dignity

and compassion, so that in the end, we have no enemies to fight.

This is the true nature of the spiritual warrior”
